How it works

The service works as follows:

1. You select the EU member state and enter the VAT number.
2. The portal performs a preliminary format check.
3. The request is forwarded to the European Commission's official VIES SOAP service.
4. VIES returns a real-time response about the validity of the VAT number, and, if available, the company name and address.
5. The result is displayed clearly, together with a legal disclaimer.
